The thematic portal “Fries Chronicle”, currently under construction, is dedicated to the contents and the manuscript tradition of the Chronicle of the Bishops of Würzburg by the princely secretary, head of chancery, councillor, and diplomat Lorenz Fries (1489/91–1550), as well as to the virtual presentation of the digitised copies.
The portal is anchored in the presentation of the so‑called “Echter copy”, preserved in the University Library Würzburg under the shelfmark M.ch.f.760, which is regarded as one of the most beautifully illuminated Fries chronicles.
